Catching up

It has been home improvement central around here. In the past few days:

  • rearranged/picked up living room - tossed/recycled a bunch of stuff
  • finally got rid of the smoke smell (I tried to set fire to my microwave breakfast last week)
  • cleaned bathroom
  • did laundry for the week
  • got A/C serviced
  • cleaned and painted deck table and chairs (still have to do chaise and side table)
  • "touched up" the waterproofing of the deck
  • got quotes to repair culvert wall at end of my driveway (ack, need to address the wood repairs first!)

And amidst this activity, I got a massage, went to my tapestry group meeting, and taught a spinning class at the LYS. Pretty productive weekend, if I do say so myself!

Tonight, I restained the front door and am trying to prioritize my next group of projects! On the knitting front, the feather and fan shawl has been ripped, I keep losing track and have given up! I've got another sheep on the needles in preparation of my class on Sunday.

The Baby Wolf is calling to me, so I am also trying to plan a project for it (hmmmm, maybe the yarn from the feather and fan??).

The List Maker Reflects
Last week was my birthday. Birthdays have been hard for me the last few years, but this year I seem to have settled into my own. Still spent some time reflecting on the past, but also spent a lot of time looking forward, as well as having a great time celebrating in the present with friends. I also did a little work towards reorganizing my house, but that's another story.

I don't usually upate my 2008 goals until the end of the year, but since Lani posted hers and mine are all over the place, I thought it would be a good idea to post an update. So here's the merged list for 2008:

  1. Reorganize the house. (Summer 2008 Goal)
  2. Continue to simplify.
  3. Finish what I start.
  4. Continue making home improvements.
  5. Complete some of the projects that I have in my stash, attacking the following WIPs first:
    Knitting:
    Icarus
    Sidekick
    Silk shawl
    Irish Hiking Scarf
    Clapotis (Summer 2008 knitting goal)
    Candleflame Shawl
    Hairpin Lace Shawl
    Mystery Stole 3
    Morning Glory Shawl
    Renegade Shawl
    Another Renegade Shawl
    The infamous single sock
    Lotus Blossom Tank
    Sweet Thing Shawl
Feather and Fan Shawl (Summer 2008 knitting goal)
    Stitching:
Iris Window Garden from Calico Crossroads (Summer 2008 Goal)
    Christmas Elf from Mirabilia
    Shaker Box smalls
    Sleeping Beauty from Mirabilia
    Lady Scarlett from Just Nan
    Santa Claus
    Reindeer
    Thanksgiving Tablecloth (Summer 2008 Goal)
    Grid Nativity (Summer 2008 Goal)
  6. Continue to look for ways to feed my creativity.
  7. Laugh more.
  8. Travel more
  9. Be more healthy.
  10. Blog more.
  11. Look for ways to contribute more.
  12. Finish developing/prepping class projects for the summer.
  13. Get something on and off the loom!!!
  14. Tour de Fleece

EEEEKKK! Now that's a crazy list. Here's the revised list with updates:

  1. Reorganize the house. (Summer 2008 Goal) - still in process
  2. Complete some of the projects that I have in my stash, attacking the following WIPs:
    Knitting:
    Clapotis (Summer 2008 knitting goal)
Feather and Fan Shawl (Summer 2008 knitting goal)
    Peacock or Icarus
Finish developing/prepping class projects for the summer
    Stitching:
Iris Window Garden from Calico Crossroads (Summer 2008 Goal)
    Thanksgiving Tablecloth (Summer 2008 Goal)
    Grid Nativity (Summer 2008 Goal)
  3. Continue to look for ways to feed my creativity - I've started teaching classes, learning to do tapestry weaving, and needlefelting.
  4. Laugh more - continuing to do this!
  5. Travel more - gone to convergence, the beach, heading to memphis soon.
  6. Be more healthy - still need to do this.
  7. Blog more - doing better, I think.
  8. Get something on and off the loom!! (Summer 2008 Goal)
  9. Tour de Fleece - spin every day.

Well, its still a big list. But its definately pared down, still trying to focus on being more healthy, organized, and creative. While I don't know how much I will truly finish, to just make progress on all of these would be a good thing. Wish me luck!

Another challenge!
With all of these crafty goals, I totally forgot that the Tour de Fleece was coming up. And my spinning has been very limited lately. So I am committing to spinning a little every day. Hopefully that will be doable! :)

And now, back to reorganizing my closet!
