Happy Friday!
A quick post before I get working on the studio.

There's been some warp winding:

With more to go:

This is the Tubular Spectrum towels kit from Lunatic Fringe Yarns. Over 500 ends. I plan to tempt myself with this as my studio cleaning break.

My other temptation will be this:

This is my indigo dyed alpaca that I blogged earlier about here and carded last week. I spun some of the alpaca last weekend and while I liked it, it really didn't feel right. So I decided to pair it with some tencel I bought from here. After a few passes this is what I got:

Compared to the original:

It is so soft and shiny now, I am really liking it. Still needs another pass or two but I think this will work out well. I really am going to have to get a carder (so I can give this one back to its owner at some point!).

Today my hands bugged me, but I think it was more because I actually had a diagnosis, so I was staring at them/thinking about them a lot. I found the braces I got for sleeping, so I think tonight will be a better night.

Knitting-wise, I have just cast on Morning Glory in Amethyst Sea Silk. I am rapidly becoming a Knitspot addict. I have added this to my Ravelry queue as well as a bunch of Anne's lace patterns. I had hoped to make one or two for xmas gifts, but we shall see!

This weekend I will be doing a walk for the heart association, spinning my new alpaca/tencel blend at the shop, winding my warp, and of course, lots of house sorting (and planning!).

One day at a time
So during my commentary of my searching for balance, did I mention that I had noticed my hands going numb fairly frequently for the last month or so? I had a nerve test today for my left hand (since I'm left handed, it appears to be worse on that side)

Yeah, I have carpal tunnel.

My chiropractor thinks its my neck that is causing it? The neuro guy didn't say, but he seemed to imply that it was in my arm. And when I asked him how long I should give braces before surgery, he said 3-4 weeks!!!!! Which is kinda quick in my book, so either this guy is a little surgery-happy (which is not his rep) or my hands are in bad shape. So I'm a little (lot) upset, but I'm trying to be positive. Obviously any knitted or stitched gifts are minimal if at all this year. Knitting and stitching in general will be minimal. I need to reassess my computer time at home and at work.

In the house department, I have made progress in the studio. I still have many hours to go before it is sufficiently cleared out. But progress none the less.

Just trying to take it one day at a time....

I want it all
I am truly a want it all kind of girl. I want to enjoy my crafts, my friends, my family, my house, and my job. But I feel like I can't enjoy most of that right now, because my house is in such disarray. I need to balance things better.

So this week, I put on my project manager hat and plotted out my next few weeks, giving myself lots of tasks, including fun things (balance. must have balance.). The good news is, I accomplished a few things. Not as much as I had hoped, but given how crappy I felt this week, an amazing accomplishment.

Housewise, I straightened up a lot of small spaces, catching up on dishes, laundry, etc. Replaced the burner bowls in the stove, got the number of a guy to fix some wood rot, researched flooring options with a friend who is about to get flooring installed and has offered to give me her floor samples. In sorting my roving and boxing up my yarn stash, I have been hit with the realization that I have a lot of yarn and roving!! It will more than fill the space I have planned for it. So I am trying to knit and spin that down a bit in the meantime.

Craftwise, it has been focused on weaving off the warp that came with my loom (camera's at my mom's so pics to come). Still need to wet finish them, but they were a good practice for me. I carded the indigo-dyed alpaca from a few months back and have started spinning that up. No stitching, but I got more stash!!

So I have treated myself to a slow morning of Ravelry, checking email, and writing this post. True multi-tasker that I am though, I am also working a few more rows on my latest triangle shawl. I think I am around the 80% mark, so I hope to finish that up this week. My knit friends have been missing me, so I will catch up with them late this afternoon, but I need to get some work done on the house first as well as planning for the week.

Speaking of planning, Christmas is coming and I have no idea what I am getting anyone or what will be on my wishlist. I have several weaving and knitting thoughts for some folks. For myself, I am in serious like with the Knit Picks Harmony Needles. And a strauch petite carder.

That's all for now. Next week, more house progress, pictures, new weaving project, stitching, and hopefully a completed triangle shawl.
