Stitchery, Knitting, and Spinning Stash
This weekend I began the task of reorganizing my stash. Lots of plastic organizers were purchased and now I am slowly filling them! Needlework fibers are now officially complete, fabric is partially complete, as are needlework tools. Yarn is next up!

No spinning news as my living room is filled with stash. But I have made a little more progress on my Sweet Thing and LaBo shawls. Pictures soon!

Weather Change!
So I'm knitting on my shawl at the Dr's this morning and the nurse that came to take me back says "no one knits anymore!!!"

Not sure what rock she sits under.

Crazy work day, but all is good with the world. We had a cool front come through so I got to drive home with the top down and then spent some down time on the deck today. Life isn't bad when this is your view:

onthedeck

OK, so it ain't George Clooney or some other sexy man, but as views go, it's not bad. Against the backdrop of my yard (and awful table!), it is my latest spinning (Spunky Eclectic Almost Solid in Delphinium. Its an ounce of Superwash Merino and its about 55 yards at DK weight (according to my new WPI tool!!). Still think and thin, but getting more even. Part of my problem is that I have a bad tendancy to push myself when I'm tired ("just a little bit more!"), so I think it gets a little wonky then. Also pictured is the Andean Silk from Knitpicks that I plan to use for the Simple Knitted Bodice. A little nervous here since my track record with sweaters isn't so good. Plus the diet has restarted so I'm not sure what size to make!

Fall wish list - updated
With all of this spinning goodness, one might think that I have been ignoring my knitting.....Well, progress is slow, that's for sure. To update my list from UFO August:

1. LaBoehme shawl. Picked the yarn up in Memphis on my road trip.

laboheme

2. "Sweet Thing" Shawl. Don't know the real name of this pattern. Its just a simple shawl that a friend made for her son's new girlfriend (aka "Sweet Thing"). I liked it so much, I had to make one. I have now passed the halfway point on this.

3. Lotus Blossom Tank. Still on the second repeat of the lace motif.

Second Repeat of Lotus Blossom Tank

The rest are in "Time Out" until further notice. The exception is Airy Scarf from Last Minute Knitted Gifts because I finished it on vacation!!! A few things that I would like to do:

1. Lap blanket for my grandmother

2. Socks for my grandmother

3. Simple Knitted Bodice for me

4. Sizzle for me

5. Something with my handspun

Ambitious, yes, even more so when you consider that I have to do some needlework projects this fall too!!! And in spinning news....here is what I finished on my Joy the first week:

I think it is safe to say that I love love love my joy joy joy!!!

Got Joy!
The UPS man came to my house yesterday:

joybox

Found that my Joy had been packed by Chris (thanks Chris!)packed-by, screwed in the flyer hooks, attached the brake band and it was ready to go!

Joy

The rest of the evening was devoted to spinning! Here is a little bit of what I spun, with some Lincoln top and Mohair (that's supposed to be blue/green, but all I see is green!) which arrived today.

Off to go play!

Tribute

Finishes and arrivals
No, no arrival of the Joy, but this greeted me at the door on Saturday

door

The contents? Two spinning books, almost solid sampler and undyed roving from Spunky Eclectic, and Joy accessories, Confetti silk and alpaca rovings from Copper Moose.

Finishes are of the knitting and stitching kind. I finished the Airy Scarf from Weekend Knitting on my trip, its still unblocked, but I love it.

I learned about punchneedle at the Stitching Festival, so I finished the class project and finished a box with some pretty decorative paper.

My final finish is a project for my mom that I have been struggling with for forever. This is a kit from lanate of a marjolean bastin painting. It was quite likely one of my first linen starts and for a variety of reasons, it has been very hard to work on. But it is now done, except for washing and blocking!

I'm a little bummed that I still have not reorganized my craft room, or really had the health to reorganize the house the way I would like. But I am happy that I have been able to finish these pieces and my Joy will be here soon!!!

The waiting game
Well, Friday is coming to a close, and no joy! This is what happens when one orders over a holiday weekend I suppose. My new rovings are still enroute as well so I guess it is just as well.

I finished up my punchneedle box (pics tomorrow) and am in the home stretch of the cross stitch project that I have been working on for forever.

Tomorrow is the local EGA meeting and then it is off to the knit shop to play.

Pacing and a fiber frenzy
I have no idea when my Joy is going to arrive, but since the fiber that comes with it is being shipped separately, I am in fear that I won't have enough to spin on her! So, I have gone on a fiber-buying frenzy. Pics when it all arrives.

Argh! Why won't the USPS and UPS tracking display an update?!?!?!?

Had a wonderful afternoon!
OK, I should have ordered that Joy sooner.

I headed out to the yarn shop, with two errands on the way:

1. Buy gas (and picked up lottery tickets).

2. Stop by the Vera Bradley store to see what was on sale....maybe pick up a small bag to match my spindle bag and a small bag for my mom to match her new Vera.

Results of these tasks in reverse order: At the Vera store, I did pick up the small bags AND WON a doorprize of another bag and a matching watch! As for the lottery, no clue on the lotto yet...the drawing isn't for another hour, but the $2 scratch off won $10. So I am $4 ahead at this point (which doesn't quite cover my vera purchases, but oh well!).

Closet cleaning has come to a standstill....my back is really hurting at the moment so I suspect that yet another visit to the chiropracter is in order.

Edited to add: Didn't win the lottery, but it was a good day anyway!

I did it!
It is bad scary movie day apparently....I've just watched Scream 3, I Know What You Did Last Summer, The Craft, and now The Haunting is starting. I have been knitting, doing laundry, doing dishes, and playing with the cats. I also have continued my obsession/research of what wheel to buy.

I just bought a Joy!

I've still got more to report on my trip, spinning progress, (minimal) progess on the UFO August KAL, and the KALs that I've just had to join now! But I need to go to knitting at the yarn shop!
